National Coming Out Day is coming up on Thursday, October 11th. National Coming Out Day (NCOD) is an internationally observed civil awareness day celebrating individuals who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual plus many more identitites. Coming out can refer to sharing aspects of one's sexual orientation and/or gender identity with others, and can be a complex and significant process for many LGBTQIA+ people.
In honor of NCOD, the LGBQTIA+RC and Queer Student Union will hosting a keynote and open mic night to provide a space for folks to process their different experiences with coming out. This Open Mic night will be focused on the ways experiences often involve resistance and resilience. This event is going to be held inside meeting room D inside of the Student Community Center at UCD. We intend for this event to be a powerful and celebratory event for everyone and respect and honor individuals with varying degrees of «out-ness.”
