Come join us for the first ever Movie in the Park “Ready Player One”.
Woodland Community Services is hosting a free, family friendly Movie in the Park event on Friday, September 14 at Campbell Park, 701 Thomas Street. Enjoy watching the movie under the stars sipping your favorite (non-alcoholic) beverage, eating your favorite snack while lying on a blanket or lounging in a folding chair. The entertainment begins at 5 pm with Rec2Go opening its van doors and supplying all the games, activities, arts and crafts. Promptly at 5:30 pm, G Factor Gaming will be opening its mobile video game truck doors. G Factor Gaming is your premier Game Truck source for the Ultimate Mobile Gaming Experience. Their truck, The Ultimate Game Theater, features six 55" HD 1080p LCD screens. There are 4 screens on the inside that can accommodate up to 16 players simultaneously for an unparalleled gaming experience. This game theater also features a custom limousine style interior with plush leather seating. Two optional outside screens allow the action to continue for up to 8 more players! Their gaming theaters are setup so that players can play the same game, against one another, or as a team. Make sure to show up early to get your name on the queue.
Shortly after sundown, around 7:30 pm, “Ready Player One” will be shown on a giant 30-foot screen. Bring your low-back chairs and blankets to relax on the grass. Boy Scout Troop 68 will be fundraising by selling food, candy, snacks, and drinks during the event. Come out and support your local Scouts.
From filmmaker Steven Spielberg comes the science fiction action adventure “Ready Player One,” based on Ernest Cline’s bestseller of the same name, which has become a worldwide phenomenon. The film takes place in 2045, when much of humanity uses the virtual reality software OASIS to escape the desolation of the real world. Orphaned teenager Wade Watts discovers clues to a hidden game within the program that promises the winner full ownership of the OASIS, and joins several allies to try to complete the game before a large company run by businessman Nolan Sorrento can do so. The cast includes Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller, Simon Pegg, and Mark Rylance. “Ready Player One” is a PG-13 rated movie and received a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a 7.7 out of 10 on IMDb, and 64% on Metacritic.
