The Novel Tea invites grandmothers, grandfathers, mothers, fathers, or any other adults who think it’s time for an introduction to proper table etiquette to come to a child-centered tea (and apple juice or lemonade for the youngsters) with formal table settings and some gentle guidance on proper table etiquette in our fast-food, eat-in-the-car world.
According to Miss Manners (Judith Martin): «But eating rituals, as any anthropologist can attest, are a deeply emotional part of civilization. Sophisticated travelers know that gross violations of other cultures’ eating habits are fatal to any welcome for which they might hope.»
This tea is designed for school age children (K-8). Child and adult appropriate food will be presented with common table manner instructions, and tips for the art of graceful eating and conversing.
About the Instructor & The Novel Tea:
Ellen, Cid and Emmy, owners of The Novel Tea, have been friends, family and professional colleagues for many years. Long ago best friend’s Ellen and Cid discovered that they both loved tea—both the drink in its infinite variations, and the experience of connecting with others while having good conversations over a cup of tea. This is a passion Ellen and Cid passed on to their daughters, including Ellen’s daughter Emily who joined them when they opened The Novel Tea.
